The SAKSHAM Strategy: |
SAKSHAM was started in April 2021 to encourage rural women to start their own business to make them financially independent as well as empower them. These women all come from a background of low income in rural areas of India. Gender inequality is extremely apparent here and MWS are working hard to break barriers and give women equal opportunity to men. These remarkable women have been given the chance to start their business through the gifting of equipment from MWS. We wanted to share with you the incredible growth of these women and how it has transformed their lives.
With the outstanding help from Mijwan Welfare Society, at the moment they have benefitted fourty three exceptional entrepreneurs. Having kept up with their progress 6 months after, it is clear that this assistance has opened opportunities for the lives of these female entrepreneurs and has increased their income. If you would like to meet these women, take a look at our page 'Meet our Female Entrepreneurs' |
Words From Our Outstanding Entrepreneurs
"The first job available to me was to work with a flour mill. Many of the other women around me were hesitant to take the role as they felt, as a woman, they could not handle that kind of machinery. I on the other hand was so motivated I could not let this opportunity pass me by. It has now allowed me to earn enough to live and provide more finance alongside my husband. I feel extremely empowered and proud to be a woman. I will not let anyone stop me from doing something again!" -Parvati Devi
"I am twenty three years old and a mother of one. I graduated from NCC college with a qualification as a beautician however I struggled to find a job. I filled out a form with MWS who donated a sewing machine to myself! I had previous experience in sewing so it was perfect! It means that I could now make some money to help my husband support our child. I am extremely thankful to MWS and I am looking to develop more sewing skills in order to earn more for my family." -Mansa Devi
"I am a mother of two and I can now support my family through my tailoring work. When I first heard of MWS I immediately applied and was so excited to have been accepted and chosen! With the help of their donation of a sewing machine, I feel much more independent. I have also inspired other women around me to become an entrepreneur which has been so lovely to see! I decided to give back to MWS to thank them for their help by providing any resources they need." -Pramila Devi
