Who We Are
Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS) work tirelessly to bridge the gap between the equality differences in men and women in rural India. Being one of their many projects, we focus on bettering the lives of women in the project called: The SAKSHAM PROJECT. SAKSHAM provides the opportunity for women to generate their own income instead of relying on their male family members.
For these women to become a part of SAKSHAM, there is an application process. These women firstly need to apply, and they are then offered an interview. For those who are particularly outstanding, they will be finalised into a group of three women. MWS will then give an additional interview where they will either be awarded the funding, or put on a waiting list to be supported at a later date. MWS provides the equipment to start their businesses such as sewing machines for a tailor, a stall to sell fast food, or a flour mill to grind grain.
By making a donation, you too could help these women feel the confidence to support their families. Within the SAKSHAM project, we share some of the stories of the women who have already benefited from MWS, and where their business has grown to.
